How it works

There is a new section in /platform under the Settings tab, and it located in the “danger zone” at the bottom of the page.

As per the details in the screenshot above, really this is just intended for those who want to reset a tenant so they’re ready for go-live. We basically don’t want to use this functionality for any other reason.

You will only be able to reset a company if it is in a demo state.

The table exists so you can track the progress of a reset, and also serves as an audit trail, detailing who reset the company and when.

We really cannot emphasise enough how potentially dangerous this piece of functionality is, and as such implore all platform admins to take particular care when prepping to reset a company. This action is irreversible and destructive.

Why should you care

Company lifecycle in Pinpoint starts with Sales, where demo companies are created for our prospects, with heaps of seeded data, allowing would-be users of Pinpoint to get a day-to-day feel for the platform.

After they’ve agreed to buy Pinpoint, the customer is handed over to Customer Success, who are then responsible for training the customers’ users to use the platform. Not only will this involve learning the system and tinkering with all of the features, these new users will no doubt create lots of practice data that they don’t intend to use.

It’s a huge burden for Customer Success to then retroactively go and try to delete all of this fake data in an effort to manually reset the company to a pre-seeded state. Moreover, because Sales want to showcase functionality that not everybody will use, such as additional structures, that adds another layer of complexity for CS when cleaning a company up.

This feature should alleviate that burden by allowing you to press a single button and to reset a company.
